Magento 1: Search

Instant Search & Search Page #

Clerk.io’s search function consists of two parts:

  • The Live-Search dropdown that is displayed when a customer starts typing.

  • The Search Page which displays all matching products on a full page.

From the main menu start by clicking on Getting Started:

Create Designs and Content #

The first thing you need to do, is create Standard Designs and Content.

You can use the Setup guide entitled SEARCH under the Getting Started option, to quickly create Designs and Content that have the same color scheme and style as your webshop.

A/ Start by creating a Design and Content for the Live Search :

Click Publish once you are happy with your design.

And then create a Design and Content for the Search Page:

Click Publish once you are happy with your design.

You can easily change your designs and content later, under Designs and Content, then click the edit button.

Activate features #

The next steps will guide you through the steps needed to activate the Live Search and the Search-Page Functions:

Please bare in mind even if the next steps are already checked with a green icon as if they were installed - they are not - you still need to click and follow the steps:

Install the Live-Search and Search Page

In the Magento 1 module both Live-Search and Search Page are enabled under the same steps, therefore you can click either on:

- Install your auto-complete search

- Install your search page

Follow all the Steps under the section: Enable search and  live-search

Finalise the setup by clicking Done

After enabling the features, you will be able to see Clerk.io’s SEARCH function on your webshop.

Facets #

The Magento 1 extension comes with a built-in option for Faceted Search.

Any product attributes you sendto us can be used as part of the Faceted Search.

Here is a quick guide on how to do it:

1. Login in the backend of your Magento 1 extension

2. Go to System - > Configuration 3. Click Current Configuration Scope and choose your Storeview 4. Under Faceted Search - > click Yes next to the Enable tab

5. Click Save Config

6. Choose the Attributes on the list of Attributes available

  • You can select several Attributes at the same time

  • The order of appearance on the filter menu of your webshop will depend on the order of your actual selection on the list

  • Click Save Config

7. The Attributes selected previously will appear automatically on the Multiselect Attributes section and on the Labels section

8. Go to the Label section

  • Name the different Attributes - >  under the section English with the name you want them to appear with on your webshop

9. Click Save Config

10. Once all your changes are saved go to your webshop and refresh the page:
